Kyoto Experiment
ABOUT
This documentary follows the process of organizing the KYOTO EXPERIMENT Kyoto International Performing Arts Festival 2021 SPRING, as the festival begins to work at a rapid pace to realize its 11th year in 2021, including the appointment of a new director and the creation of a new program structure and logo. However, the world is hit by a pandemic of a new coronavirus infection. The production team is forced to make last-minute decisions and cancel or change their plans at the last minute. This film is based on the testimonies of the people involved, who are pursuing the form of a festival for the future of the performing arts and the possibility of "experimental" expression, even under the severe circumstances.

Message from artist / creator
Through adding Japanese and English subtitles we created a video that can be accessed by those who are deaf or hard of hearing. We also collaborated with graphic designers throughout the documentary to not only ensure visual clarity but also readability and ease of information transmission through design. By involving the designer from the concept stage of the production, we eliminated the risk of discrepancies and misunderstandings with regard to content, and therefore allowing this content to be easily accessible to viewers.
